Five Tips For the Best Queen of Hearts Child Costume

So your daughter wants to be the queen of hearts this year for Halloween? There are several important factors to prepare for this endeavor, so please read and listen carefully because in order for your child to be the Queen of Hearts, all steps must be followed.

1. The first thing to recommend is to watch all the Alice in Wonderland movies! There is the cartoon version, there is the 1985 version of the movie which will be very entertaining for all ages, and then of course the New Alice In Wonderland Movie that was made in 2010, which is also a great movie. All three movies portray a different Queen of Hearts, so it is important for your daughter to decide which character she would like to be. Perhaps she will like one more than the other. I think the cartoon Queen is a bit meaner than all the rest, and the 2010 Queen, while mean in her own way, she was very comical at times. She was also the most awkward looking queen of them all. Any queen she chooses to become will be fascinating in their own right.

2. The second necessity is to portray absolute royalty and that is to of course, dress the part. After all, it is a costume and for one day or period of time, it is the most entertaining to act (that was step 1) and dress the part. The first is what the queen is going to wear. There are several options here. You have many possibilities to being more of an elegant queen, a beautiful queen, an ugly queen, or even a combination of them all. Decide which route you are going to take because all should come together when the outfit is complete. Think about how far you want to go with the costume. Do you want to have drastic features like the humongous head of the new Queen of Hearts? Do you want to be beautiful like the 1985 Queen of Hearts? Do you want to play the short and stocky queen like the cartoon character? Decide which type of queen to be and then move on to step 3.

3. There is no right or wrong way to dress for the Queen of Hearts. There are a variety of outfits and costumes to choose from, aside from making your own. Please follow the link on the bottom of this page to view what options you have available to be the Queen of Hearts. There are simple outfits, and more elegant gowns. It's all about the comfort level and how much you want to spend this Halloween for the costume. You can also mix and match with different ideas. There is also a Queen of Hearts costume that is actually a simple card. The Queen had several heart cards as her servants and ones who performed the "Off with their heads" call to order. Your child can be a simple Queen of Hearts card. This outfit would be good for both boys and girls as well.

4. No Queen should go without accessories such as a crown and makeup. You might notice from the Queen's pictures on the web and just from the movies that she is always wearing a high collar. That is a very Queen characteristic which you may want to incorporate into your child's costume. Other Accessories such as a wand, or perhaps a Queen of Hearts purse to hold candy if this is for trick-or-treating. Extravagant makeup will spruce up any Queen of Hearts character your child chooses (step 2). The new queen has blue eye shadow that she wears and a very white, powdery face on top of all that. This will all add eye-catching features to the costume and will also make it all the more fun getting your child ready.

5. The last step to top off the costume is the infamous Queen of Heart lips. I think this will be the best part of the costume because the Queen of Hearts has the perfect heart shaped lips and that can simply be done with red lipstick. If your child's lips aren't full, it is OK to go outside the lines to make the perfect heart. This is a must for the costume because there will be no mistake of what the costume is with this feature.

I think if your son or daughter follows these steps, he/she will make the perfect Queen of Hearts this year. Since the new Alice in Wonderland movie just came out, the new Queen of Hearts should be a big hit this Halloween. Her features are so drastic, so there will be a lot of room for uniqueness with the costume. You don't have to make an exact replica of the new Queen, or you can...that's the beauty of dressing up in costumes. Good luck and be sure to check out the link below so that you can see these costume ideas visually.
